School Learning Garden Network

The School Learning Garden Network is a collaboration with Seattle Public Schools Volunteer Enhancement Projects, Department of Liberatory Education, Tilth Alliance, IslandWood, Y-WE and Nurturing Roots.

SLGN hosts quarterly events to engage with school garden coordinators, volunteers, and educators towards advancing outdoor greenspace opportunities for all students.

2025 Farwell to Winter Workshop

Saturday, March 1, 2025 9-3PM @ Jane Addams Middle School Cafeteria

Please join us for SLGN’s ‘Farewell to Winter Workshop on March 1st, from 9:30AM-3:00PM in the Jane Addams middle school cafeteria.  When you attend, you can look forward to morning refreshments, time spent in learning with Nathan Hale (NH) Horticulture teacher Matt Davis, a tour though the well-established NH Urban Farm and greenhouse. The opportunity to self-tour the Jane Addams middle school garden, visit partner orgs and network with like minded folks. Lunch is included in your day. Leika Suzumura from Nourishian for Life will share their journey in developing programming that supports youth with life and job skills to nourish themselves though food and cooking. Afternoon workshops include Sensory Activation, Strawberry Native American Storytelling, Localizing Science in the classroom and Wellness spaces for classrooms. We are deeply thankful to our key collaborators, including Meisha Wangerin of Y-WE, Sharon Siehl of Tilth Alliance, Celina Steiger of IslandWood, Nyema Clark of Nurturing Roots, Stacia Arnoux and Anita Koyier-Mwamba of SPS.
